The Palomar Wedding in Cincinnati | Modern Ohio Wedding Venues

Real Wedding Feature

When couples start looking at Ohio wedding venues, they often want a space that feels beautiful and fits the kind of celebration they have in mind. The Palomar in Cincinnati is one of those venues that can do both. With its classic style, checkered marble floors, and spaces that flow well from one part of the day to the next, it’s easy to see why so many couples fall in love with it.

For Abby and Elliot, though, the venue was only part of the story. Their biggest goal wasn’t an over-the-top design or a packed timeline. They wanted one thing above all else. They wanted to throw an incredible party. Every choice they made helped create a fun, relaxed day where their family and friends could celebrate right alongside them. (And honestly, we were all for it.)

Hi, we’re Maggie and Amber, the best friends behind Kindred Light Studios. We believe your wedding day should feel just as good as it looks. From helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera to capturing the moments you didn’t even realize were happening, we’re here to make the experience easy and fun. If you’re planning your wedding, we’d love to hear all about it and see if we’re the right fit for your day.

Starting the Morning Together

Abby and Elliot both got ready at an Airbnb right next to The Palomar in Walnut Hills. Having everyone in one place made the morning run smoothly, and it gave them more time to spend with the people they love.

They also had a very large bridal party. From the moment we arrived, there was laughter, music, and someone always telling a story. There was never a quiet moment, but that’s exactly what they wanted. Instead of saving the fun for the reception, they made the entire day feel like one big celebration.

Having everyone close together also made portraits and transportation simple. There was no rushing across the city or worrying about people arriving late. Everything stayed relaxed, which helped everyone enjoy the day.

A First Look at The Palomar

One of our favorite spots at The Palomar is the small alcove tucked into the venue. If you’ve seen weddings here before, you probably recognize it right away. It’s become one of the most iconic places for portraits, and it’s easy to understand why.

This is where Abby and Elliot shared their first look.

The moment was quiet, sweet, and a nice pause before the excitement of the ceremony. They had a chance to see each other, take a deep breath, and enjoy a few minutes alone before spending the rest of the day with their family and friends.

A Personal Ceremony

There’s something meaningful about having a family member stand with you during such an important moment. It added a personal touch that everyone could feel. There were smiles, a few happy tears, and plenty of laughter mixed into the ceremony. It’s one of the reasons we love photographing weddings at Ohio wedding venues like The Palomar, where every celebration feels personal and unique.

After they said “I do,” everyone gathered for family photos while guests enjoyed cocktail hour beneath the outdoor tent.

A Memorable Cocktail Hour at One of Cincinnati’s Ohio Wedding Venues

We’ve photographed a lot of weddings, and this cocktail hour was one of the best. Instead of serving only light appetizers, guests enjoyed sliders, pot stickers, and several other delicious bites. It felt more like a fun food experience than a typical cocktail hour.

While guests mingled under the tent, we finished family portraits before taking Abby and Elliot out for a few more photos together around the venue.

One thing we love about Ohio wedding venues like The Palomar is how many different photo locations are available without leaving the property. From clean architecture to classic details, there are plenty of beautiful backdrops throughout the day.

Some of the best moments happen when you aren’t looking. See what your photographer captures behind the scenes in our latest blog.

A Simple Reception Design That Let the Venue Shine

When guests entered the reception space, they found a simple and timeless design.

Abby chose a black-and-white color palette because she felt it matched the style of The Palomar perfectly. The venue’s marble checkered floors already make a statement, so keeping the decor clean allowed the space to stand out on its own.

The result felt elegant without being overdone.

Instead of filling the room with extra decorations, every detail worked together to create a classic look that won’t go out of style. Sometimes less really is more, especially when the venue already has so much character.

For couples searching through Ohio wedding venues, it’s a great reminder that you don’t always need elaborate decor. Choosing a venue with beautiful architecture can help create a timeless look with fewer design elements.

An Entrance No One Will Forget

If there was one moment that perfectly matched Abby and Elliot’s personalities, it was the bridal party entrance.

They didn’t simply walk into the reception.

Instead, the entire bridal party came in with a bottle service-style entrance while carrying a lit sign with their new last name. The room immediately filled with cheers, and guests were on their feet before dinner had even started.

It set the tone for everything that followed. Abby’s grandfather welcomed everyone with a heartfelt toast before dinner was served. After everyone had eaten, the evening moved into the first dances, followed by the bouquet toss. Then it was time for what everyone had been waiting for. The dance floor opened.

A Dance Floor That Stayed Full All Night

Remember how we said the party was their biggest priority? They absolutely accomplished it.

From the first song until the very end of the night, the dance floor stayed packed. Guests of every age joined in, and there was never a point where the room felt empty. Every time we looked around, someone was singing along, laughing with friends, or showing off their best dance moves.

Those are some of our favorite receptions to photograph because people stop worrying about the camera and simply enjoy the moment. The photos become full of real smiles, real laughter, and memories that truly reflect the day.

It’s clear that Abby and Elliot planned their wedding around what mattered most to them. They wanted everyone to have fun, spend time together, and celebrate. Looking back through their gallery, that’s exactly what you’ll see.
